Did Jesus Have a Positive Mental Attitude?

Many of the large and more popular churches today preach a very positive message. They teach and help you deal with life issues such as divorce, dependency (alcohol, drugs, etc.), parenting, finances, careers, health, and others. They try to help and encourage you to do better. They strive to make you feel better about yourself.

There is nothing wrong with churches giving positive messages and helping their members to live a better life. The church is where Christians should be able to get help with their lives. And judging by the popularity of the Mega–churches, the positive message seems to be the kind that people want.

Since Jesus is our example, it follows that churches would pattern their message and methods after those of Jesus. And viewing the services of the large and popular churches today, you would think that Jesus must have had a Positive Mental Attitude. But did He?

The high performance harley parts superchargers positive messages you hear in many churches today has its roots in the Positive Thinking movement that became popular in the 1930’s. These ideas were made popular in books like:

  • “How to Win Friends and Influence People” (1936) — Dale Carnegie
  • “Think and Grow Rich” (1937) — Napoleon Hill
  • ”The Power of Positive Thinking” (1952) — Norman Vincent Peale (founder of Guideposts magazine)
  • “Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude” (1960) -– Napoleon Hill

The church, in its desire to reach people, uses modern methods to get people in its doors and to keep them coming back. Some of the same methods are used in the entertainment industry. Watch a movie from the 1960’s or older and compare it to a modern day movie. Notice that in the older movie, there are more spaces or lapses in dialogue or action. The same is true of TV shows. The entertainment industry has learned how to hold your attention. They don’t want you switching channels or getting bored with their movies. Many churches have learned how to hold your attention as well. Since movies and church services are longer than
the average adult attention span of 20 minutes, they must do something to keep your attention. In church services, they break the service into smaller, attention–keeping segments. The minister’s message is seldom longer than 20 minutes. They can’t have you getting bored or worse yet, falling asleep. They want to get you in the door and they want you to come back. To accomplish this in our modern society, they must give you something you want. So they entertain you and they make you feel good about yourself. After all, you wouldn’t want to go to a church that made you feel bad about yourself.

What did Jesus do to keep peoples attention? Was he entertaining? Did He give a Positive Message?

Jesus didn’t always give people what they wanted, but He certainly gave people what they needed. Most had a deep thirst for what He gave them. People would forgo comfort and convenience and sometimes travel for miles just to hear Him speak. People came for many reasons, but for whatever reason, all recognized that there was something different about Him. The way He spoke was unlike anyone they had ever heard. To those that needed hope, He spoke of hope and offered encouragement. There were Travel Agency Cruise Catalog others however, that were offended by what He said. But to whoever He spoke, and whatever He said, He spoke truth. But He spoke it додати сайт in love -– a love for the Father and a love for those He was speaking to. He said what was needed. He never tried to soft–sell His message -– it was too important. People needed to understand the truth about living this higher life He spoke about. They needed to understand the cost.

Did Jesus have a Positive Mental Attitude? Was He an optimist? Certainly Jesus said many positive things, especially in His teaching about faith. And Paul wrote about “taking every thought captive…”. But the teaching of the scriptures centers on a faith in God and what He will do, rather than a persons own ability to think right thoughts in order to achieve a desired outcome.

Positive Mental Attitude is not the sort of attitude that I would attribute to Jesus. I think He was so far above and beyond that. Nor would I call him an optimist, though He was optimistic in some ways. ieas Jesus was such a complete person in every way, including His personality. You could not label Him with a certain type of personality. We have never seen anyone so balanced as He was. I sometimes think He could be called a realist, which is a person who tends to view or represent things Alcatel One Touch C630 as they really are. He certainly did that but He also transcended that. He sometimes spoke of a reality that you could not see with your eyes. You could not put a label on the type of person that He was or the attitude He exhibited.

A large part of His ministry on earth was to reveal the Father to us. And like any loving earthly father does, our heavenly Father does what is necessary in our lives. This sometimes involves encouragement and other positive things. It sometimes involves things we may not like or view as ‘negative’. Jesus was balanced — neither positive nor negative. He simply was what the Father needed Him to be. He spoke the truth in love. He Sony Ericsson T303 did and said what was needed. We need more of that in our churches.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ sometimes makes people uncomfortable. The path that we must walk as Christians is not always easy. Certainly there are купить Apple iPhone good times and there is nothing compared to knowing Christ, but there are also tough times and difficult choices. The prize we are running сравнение цен на авиабилеты for has a price. We need to understand that price. Hell will be full of people that heard all the positive messages, but couldn’t deal with the tough times when they came. We need to be told the truth. Let’s be like Jesus. Let’s be Ловля хищной рыбы. balanced. Let’s say what needs to be said. The Christian life is not a TV reality show. Let’s get real.
